as you all know, South Texas has been having some wacky weather.

Well, most of the school districts in the South Texas area have been closed this week do to ice on the roads. One district that didn't close had a lot of people mad so a student at one of the schools sent in a forged email to all the local news stations saying that that school district was closed Tuesday and Wednesday. So of course, the stations announced it. But soon after, some of the district officials alerted the media immediatley to let them know this was false information. (this was at 10PM Monday night) So the majority of the viewers saw the first news cast and went to bed thinking there was no school for the next to days.

Tuesday morning rolled around and about half of the students and faculty were not present. The police traced the email back to a highschool student and is sueing him for 2.3 millionare dollars because of all the money the lost because of the practical joke.

so what do you think?

What is this? A prank it is not.

I think that's a whole lot of money! No way could ONE SCHOOL DAY cost 2.3 million dollars. No. Way.
Also, I think that the boy that supposedly pulled off this prank is a bit of a fool, because you don't use your regular email address to pull off forged emails. You just don't! He should have made another email, then sent it at a cybercafe or a library. Of course, the information may still be traced with surveilance cameras and such these days, but it's better than doing it with your regular email at home.

I think the actual prank, if true, was a pretty good one. I wouldn't have thought of it but that's one way of getting revenge! I'm sure a lot of the other kids were thankful.

I don't think that they should sew the kid. If they would have closed that school down like all of the rest none of this would have happened. And what money did they lose? That was the only school that was opened right? So how could they have possible lost that much money for everyone not coming to school for two days. That kid was right to have them close it down. It was unsafe to have people and kids out on the road when they are that bad. But that's just what I think about it. What do you think?

wow...suing a teenager ova a prank, for THAT much is ridiculous! i mean these schools had to have noticed that other districts were closed, so why didnt they just follow along...that just goes to show you that that particular district is all about the MONEY...they dont care whats on the road, if kids slip and fall, or anything like that! im assuming that south Texas has not received snow/ice before? well that amount of accumulation? thats just wrong for them to do that, and I most certainly hope that the district loses the loss suit...they need to rethink their thought on that, and hire that kid for a job somewhere, because if he was able to trick that many ppl, and force an email through like that, then hes a very intelligent kid....he just shouldnt do things like that anymore, seeing how the reaction went, and that district needs to get ova it..and move on!

For one they should close the school because of the ice on the roads and the second it is not right for the school to sue for 2.3 million dollars because of it. They should think of the students safety first. That is what I think.

he should be held responsible for his actions. Takes alot of money to run a school. He caused alot of problems for alot of people. He should be punished, but I dont see how money is punishing the kid. I dont see what was funny about it....

I think some of you need to sit back and think about what it takes to run a school and the expense this kid caused by half the kids not showing up. Not only the expense of the school, but what about all the parents that had to find sitters for there kids that day.

How could they lose money? It just makes for more news. Kids not being at school doesn't change the schools way of doing things (it shouldn't). Suing the kid is really ******* gay. The kid was just being a funny prankster. I would have done the same thing myself.

I think that student should had just stayed home from school and not made a dumb decision that affected others. I'm sure being sued like that will ensure that others won't pull the same dumb prank.

Seeing as the state of Texas gave America two presidents named Bush, this further debacle doesn't surprise me in the least.

I personally think it's kind of funny....

As for the lawsuit and the money that was lost..... What money? Schools aren't suppose to be making money..... I think the lawsuit is stupid. If anything, the kid needs a swat or two....or to be suspended.... but to be sued? Give me a break! He is a kid and in school.......

That rocks! If I had had email when I was in high school I would BE that kid! TOTAL BS about the loss of revenue, hope it's thrown out of court.
