I am thinking about being a surrogate for my brother and his husband... i am worried about the emotional side effects...
i have a child now and i would love to give the gift of life to a couple that would be amazing at being parents... what are ways to be inseminated without going to the dr?
any real honest advise or past experiances would be greatly appreciated...

I have heard of people getting semen from a used condom then putting the condom up inside them and getting pregnant but i do not know about that.
It is up to you as to what you want to do for someone. I could be a surrogate but i couldn't do it for a family member since i would have to see that kid alot but it wouldn't bother me if the kid was not mine at all by blood.

I think it's great that you want to give such an awesome gift to your brother. However, if you are really looking to do this without medical involvement, then you are really going to have a hard time with the emotional attachment end. The only way to go about this without doctors is the old-fashioned way, and that would mean using your egg - therefore, the baby would biologically be yours (and whatever partner you chose). I think this process would be easier if you used a donor egg and donor sperm.

I think you should do this buy going to a doctor. Have it done professionally by getting artificially inseminated. I think if is for your brother and his partner and you can handle it that's great. Would you be using your egg? I would suggest you do not, and use a Donor egg if you are worried about the attachment. If you do that it would be invetro fertilization. I had a friend that did the donor egg thing... then they did a cocktail for the sperm of the two dads that way it could be either of their child.. Think about it.. good luck..

I think it is a wonderful gift that you could provide for your brother. Who's egg would be used? If it was a donor egg then I think it would be easier than if it were your own. I personally would not feel comfortable if the child were biologically mine. If the surrogate is strong enough then that is great for the receiving couple. I think you are doing a great thing for your brother.

I personally couldnt do it, having that baby inside me and feeling him or her kick and going through the joy of labor, I couldnt just hand the baby off and then deal with being his or her aunt. I think you are a brave women but it would be emotionally hard for anyone to do that. Why can t your brother adopt a child?
