If you quit your job, you may be eligible for coverage under COBRA - Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act -

Qualifying Events for Employees:

Voluntary or involuntary termination of employment for reasons other than gross misconduct , or;
Reduction in the number of hours of employment

How does a person become eligible for COBRA continuation coverage?

To be eligible for COBRA coverage, you must have been enrolled in your employer's health plan when you worked and the health plan must continue to be in effect for active employees. COBRA continuation coverage is available upon the occurrence of a qualifying event that would, except for the COBRA continuation coverage, cause an individual to lose his or her health care coverage.

What group health plans are subject to COBRA?

The law generally covers health plans maintained by private-sector employers with 20 or more employees, employee organizations, or state or local governments.

How long after a qualifying event do I have to elect COBRA coverage? 60 days.

How long does COBRA coverage last? 18 months, provided you pay the required premiums - Employer's cost plus 2% "service charge"

If you qualify and the employer has 20 or more employees, contact the HR Department, or benefits administrator, or the Insurance Company to determine what steps you need to take for COBRA coverage.

If you don't qualify for COBRA, you can contact any of the major insurance companies - CIGNA, Prudential, etc. - to inquire about health insurance.

There are a couple of choices: First, I spotted that plenty of posters recounted COBRA. Cobra best applies to organizations who've greater than 20 staff. So you is probably not ready to get it. Second, a few states have legislation requiring employers to present continuation (at your price). Ask an agent on your discipline. Medical reduction playing cards aren't the reply personally. Wic - an alternative, however you need to transfer rapid - rather rapid... Your husband getting a task, so much organizations have a ninety day ready interval, and require that he works 25-30 hours every week (depends upon the state). So he will have to rather simply seem for anytype of process with advantages - NOW.
