Due to a condition called myotonia congenita which causes them to faint when they are scared/surprised.

It's genetic. In olden times rich people used to buy goats and let them go in the herd with a bunch of really beautiful horse's and when danger can the goat would just be running behind the herd and he would faint and keep slowing down then the mountain lion, cougar, jaguar whatever was after them would get the goat and the horses would be just fine.

Goats don't actually faint. This behavior is for protection. Their muscles weaken and they collapse when they sense danger.
