Oprah does a lot of things for people. But don't you think she is just doing this for the shine of herself?

Oprah has shine already, I think is smart for her to use her fame to help others...yes, she promotes, but the only way to get attention is to promote, that is the key to a successfull career in show business. Think about it, if you were in her position, where you can help others, especially of your own race, would you???
Hell, it will be a waste of fame other wise... think Paris Hilton---dont you wish that waste of human being do something positive with her fame...At least it will explain why someone like her ever got lucky to be where she is...
Oprah is doing what famous people with power and money should do... more power to her... let her brag a bit, I think she earn it.

No....I think Oprah is honest. She came from a very poor background and worked really hard to get where she is and have all the money she has. She remembers wishing someone would help her. I think she is just trying to share what God has blessed her with. We need more Oprah's in the world.

Everybody helps others for the same reason. It makes you look good. Makes you feel good. If you think helping people is ever an entirely selfless act, you r fooling yourself.
Why would Oprah be any different? Everybody wins.

No, there's a lot of good things she does for people that we don't even know about!
I am sure that when she does (as everybody does) a good deed, she would feel good about herself, but she doesn't do it for the popularity or for the 'shine' as you put it.

She does have a show. The stuff she does means that she will get more people checking out the show. What is wrong with that? That it is kind of the point of having a tv show. It doesnt mean is she any less generous or admirable.

I think she has a caring heart, but I believe the areas she chooses to give her attention to offer her the best incentive for her show.
AIDS in Africa is a good cause, but AIDS in America is wiping out a lot of folks too... Why not approach the AIDS issue in the home country too.. alot of African-Amercian women are dying ...

She helps a lot of people but sometimes it seems like it's just for the publicity but don't get me wrong she's doing good by helping
