I'm 35 weeks pregnant with my 1st...2 days ago I started having back pains so I headed to the hospital where they told me I was 1 to 2 centimeters dialated...I was also having mild contractions but they stoped and I was sent home...I don't want my baby to come out just yet...I want him to be fully developed and ready...is there anything I can do so I won't dialate more?? and has any one had a premature baby that came out good with no problems??

All you can do is rest up and not worry .
that baby will come in its own good time .

If baby does decide to arrive a bit early ,
it is not so far off "term" 40 weeks . And should be fine

You probably are experiencing "Branxton - Hicks contractions , ( your body's practice run, for the real thing,!)
Very disappointing as they fizzle out , just when you thought this is the DAY!

Babies are tough little tykes and usually take all this delivery business in their stride

Hey! i was a premature baby and i survived !!!

and if you ask around, most 'prems ', do survive
and are completely normal and fine

So try to be calm and rest , and await events !!!!

I wish you all congratulations for the great arrival
xx

I am 38 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. I have had only one of my children naturally, I didn't start dilating until the day before my due date, water broke on my due date and then my son was born.

If you are already 35 weeks, you have a very good chance to have a perfectly healthy baby if you go into labor early. Seems like the contractions you are having could just be Braxton Hicks, False Labor. Your body kind of warms itself up for labor during the last few weeks. I have been having contractions for over a month now. It is perfectly normal. Kind of lets you know what to expect, even though actual contractions are much more painful, and you will know when you are in labor for sure. My aunt had her son at 32 weeks and he was kept an extra few days in ICU for observation, but he is perfectly normal and has been growing at the normal rate of children his age. Trust your doctor.

Sweet heart at 35 weeks odds are he'd go home with you my son did. You are so close to term you shouldn't worry. If you are so worried you need to lay down and not move because anytime you are up and about it puts pressure on your cervix and it can dilate. Usually the only times you need to worry about issues with preterm infants mentally that is generally is 31 weeks and younger but even at 31 weeks the odds are like 90% he'd be neurologically okay. I dilated the day I gave birth but I'm a special case because I have cervical issues. Good luck you and the baby will be just fine! But just one more word at 36 weeks if you should go into full labor the Dr's generally wont do anything other then allow you to labor the baby is ready.

I started dilating and having contractions around my 35 week....I was induced nearly a week AFTER my due date. So you will porbably be fine! In the mean time, aviod labor triggers....sex, walking a lot, exercise and warm baths. You only have about 1.5-2 weeks before the baby would be concidered full term, so don't panic! My friend had her baby at 34 weeks and he is fine now at 18 months old. He spent about an extra week in the hospital, but it was mainly for weight gain and precautions. Good Luck!!

I always started dilating at 36 wks. I was about the same as you. You can stay like that for the next 5 wks. Usually at this point your body is just getting ready for the big day and it is not necessarily soon. Relax is the best thing to do for now. If you are having false contractions, taking a bath, moving postitions can usually stop them.

There is no way that you can stop your cervix from dilating. At 35 weeks gestation your baby will be fully formed already, at this stage they just lay down fat in their bodys and grow in weight. Im sure your baby will be fine if he/she is born now. It may probably weigh less than a full term baby but that will be expected.
