He was released after he would not go along with the producers want for he and Seacrest to question the contestants after they were told 'no' during the auditions... He felt it was just pouring salt in the wound. And seeing as Seacrest had no soul and no problems with twisting the knife, they kept him...

My guess is that the Dunkeldoof was not as well-liked as the Seacrest, who was able to stand up again after Simon's personal attacks, and that is why America is no longer tolerating, uh, watching, Brian on AI.
