I am trying to help my friend figure out a problem she is having with her WORD...About two months ago, her Windows 98 WORD quit copying and pasting...Would anyone have an idea why that would happen?

Hello Dudette,

Windows 98. The paste is probably dried-up and the cut is probably dull. HAHAHAA.

Seriously, you probably have a bad dll in which case you might have to reinstall word.

Another thing you can try is booting into safe mode and running SFC (System File Checker)

My best suggestion would be forget about Microsoft office and download for FREE, yes free, http://www.openoffice.org. It will be much better than what you have.

Good Luck.

Tom

She could have a bad DLL in some of the word User Interface DLL cache. She might have to uninstall and re-install Word. That usually works.

She/he could use Edit->Copy/Paste instead of using Ctrl+C/V and vice versa.
If that doesn't work, he/she could uninstall Word and then reinstalling it, this will most definately resolve the problem, but first, try the above!
Good luck! :)

I hope she has the CD, because uninstalling and reinstalling it is what she needs to do. It has become corrupted, and there really aren't any patches available to fix this.
