To answer your question properly, first I should tell you that there are auto shows all over the country. In fact the one in Los Angeles is even bigger than the one in Detroit.

However, as a symbolic gesture, the first auto show of the year is held in Detroit. and the reason is quite simple. Back in the early 1900's Henry Ford invented the modern production line and began producing automobiles en mass right here in Detroit.

At the time there were other auto manufacturers in other parts of the country, but for many reasons, eventually they all moved to the Detroit area.

First and foremost there was an existing labor force here. Second, there is the Detroit River, and the ease of transporting parts by way of ship made the cost of manufacturing cheaper. Also, there was the beginnings of a steel industry already in place in the Detroit Area.

So, by 1925, all of the US auto manufacturing took place in Detroit.

This is why Detroit became known as the "Motor City," and it's also why the country's first auto show of the year is held in Detroit. It's the backyard of every US auto manufactuer, so to speak.

Because Detroit was the headquarters of the automotive industry and such classics as the 64 Buick Riveria, 59 Cadillac Eldorodo, 64 1/2 Mustang, 1960 Lincoln Continental, 67 Corvette Stringray and 55 Thunderbird made their debuts at car shows there...even Europeans and Asian car enthusiasists declare that Detroit is automotive holy ground like the Autobahn in Germany, Route 66 in California, and etc.

MOTOR CITY of course. Home to Ford, GM, and all those American cars. Detroit is known as the "birthplace" of the car. Detroit is home to many automobiles and was a main area in the auto industry back then. I entered my Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII in a competition last year and won second place in the 3rd round. Wasn't that bad, but I was against some really mean exotics which I know was going to win. Detroit, hometown for every car!

I artwork interior the motor vehicle marketplace and oftentimes a business enterprise will invite me to the day in the previous it opens. it fairly is larger because of the fact there arent the vast crowds. Frankly, i think of the coach is surprisingly lots the comparable element in line with annum, it does seem particularly uninteresting. while you're happening an afternoon open to the wide-unfold public, prepare your self for large crowds, and from time to time unruly childrens that initiate "wilding"
