if a white south African person comes to America are they still considered an African American?

Hes not an African-American to begin with.
That is a ridiculous term and we should have all laughed at the black leaders who wanted to be called that.
First of all Id like to know how many think they actually come from Africa, slaves also came from the Caribbean so its just ridiculous to think that all blacks should be called African-American.
I loathe this hyphenated PC BS, why do we have to distinguish beyond American, color should only be in an issue in a police bulletin, otherwise it doesn't matter.

They would be an African African....

I knew a White South African that lived in the US. He called himself African American. Really pissed off the Blacks I knew that loved using that term.

Actually when the exslaves and free born blacks were invited to make an exodus to Liberia Africa, they considered themselves Americans once there and established their new country similarly to british common law.

But of course. Being American is unique in that we are comprised of a 'melting pot' of customs, cultures, races, ideas, religions, physiognomy, etc. You take that with you wherever you go.
