-10 = 1/2 x + x
Add both x's
-10 = 3/2 x
Multiply by 2/3's
-10(2/3) = x
-20/3 = x
-6 2/3 = x
9x-5(3x-2) = 30
Distributed
9x-15x+10=30
Combine like terms
-6x = 20
x = -20/6 = -3 2/6 = -3 1/3

Add 1/2x and x and get 1 1/2x
Divide 1 1/2x by 1 1/2 and get x.
Then divide -10 by 1 1/2 and get -6.67
Got it ok....stick with me
9x-5(3x-2)=30
Distribute the -5 to the 3x and the -2 and get:
9x-15x+10=30
-6x+10=30
Subtract 10 from 10 and 30 and get:
-6x=20
Divide -6 by -6 and also divide -6 to 20 and get:
x= -3.33

heres the first
-10 = 1/2x + x = ( -10 = 1/2x + x ) 2
When you muliply both sides by 2 it eliminates the fraction.
-20 = x + 2x
-20 = 3x
- 20 / 3 = x
------------------------------------------------------------------
9x - 5 ( 3x - 2 ) = 30
9x - 15x -10 = 30
- 6x - 10 = 30
-6x = 40
6x = - 40
x = - 40/ 6
I haven't done this stuff in 40 years . Think the second one may be right . Pretty sure about the first
