That all depends on what you're going to do. If you're going on for more advanced schooling now or in the future, your grades will definitely make a different.

And as for work, some employers do want to see some grades as a way to see if you're a hard worker and have performed well. Especially for those who have little or no practical experience.

Yes a degree is a degree, however you can set yourself apart from every other degree by having a strong GPA, typically you don't put your GPA on a resume unless it is above a 3.5. Also if you ever want to go to graduate school, you will depend on those grades to get you where you want to go.

Aside from the number thought, I think the most important thing is that you are learning. If you get high grades it means you are learning more. That makes you more intelligent, more skilled, and eventually a better worker for employers(which is why they look for high grades). When you are a better worker you can make more money.

So yes grades are important for certain things but the most important thing is the amount of knowledge you are leaving college with.

As someone over the age of twelve, I can definately tell you that grades DO NOT matter in college. You are right, a degree is a degree. The records are closed and i have never had an employer look at grades.

It doesn't matter if you had a perfect G.P.A. or just squeeked through, a degree is a degree.

For some things this is true -- but not for others.

Many employers will not ask about grades -- but some do. In particular employers will care about grades when they hire for the better paying entry level positions.

Well it's really not good to have that attitude about it. Many employers, if not all, will look at your GPA. You do want to actually learn and retain the information though, right? I hope so.
