had my Membranes stripped this am now and I'm feeling lower back pains (dull but present), and more pressure down there. God I hope this is the beginning of labor. My vision is a little blury too and my shoulders are achy . ADVICE anyone?? I'm 40 weeks, 3 cm dilated and 50% efaced, my due date is 1/19/07 (this friday).

Now as of about an hour ago my upper back is also hurting and I have more pressure down there.

I would say you are in early labor. Start timing the dull pains. If they are rythmic and around 10 minutes apart (from beginning of one pain to the beginning of the next pain) and lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute for more than an hour and they don't go away when you change positions or walk around, you are in early labor. Congrats! Depending on how far you live from the hospital, you may want to call just to let them know. Don't go too early though. This phase can last up to 12 hours! That makes for a very long stay at the hospital with very little to distract you from the labor. Most hospitals want you to start heading out when your contractions reach five minutes apart and about 1 minute in length for at least an hour. Good luck!

Sounds like the beginning of labor, but the blurry vision isn't common.
Relax, that might be why your shoulders are aching. You're not due yet, so let nature take it's course. Sounds like you're making some good progress.
Pressure is from the baby dropping.

It sounds like you are in the early stages of labor. The blurry vision might be an indication your blood pressure is up. Call you Dr. and ask. The more you sit there and worry about it, the more your blood pressure might be affected. Have a happy and safe delivery! Blessing to you and your little one.

Everyone is unique. I walked round for three weeks from three - four.five cm dilated. Finally my dr stripped membranes and tomorrow I used to be within the health center at five cm. My dr stated she idea for certain I wasn't gonna have the child that quickly. She idea perhaps I had yet another week. Make certain you depend them out. I had plenty of abnormal contractions however bet thats how I went from three to four.five cm. Good success!

It could be the beginning of labor but the blurry vision concerns me. I'd call your doctor about that, because it's not a normal sign and may indicate a problem.

Yes, you are in labor.

Real labor feels like back pains or menstrual cramps.

Let the count down begin!

Sounds like labor... !! Hope all goes well! Did you ask your doc to strip you or did he/she reccommend? I am just wondering, I didn't know if it was bad to ask your doc about that. Im anxiously awaiting this baby even though I have 10 weeks left!!
