What do you think is best for America and why?

I'm kind of a conservative libertarian. I want the government out of my pocket book AND out of my bedroom!

The "left" and the "right" both want whats best for America, too. They just have very different ideas of how to get there.

The "left" thinks the fairest way to spread wealth in America is to tax the rich more & give the money to the poor through wefare programs.

The "right" thinks the fairest way to spread the wealth is to encourage business so more people have jobs & to encourage competition (global as well in in America) so prices can be lowered.

You may disagree with one "side's" method, but please don't assign evil motives. The Republican businessman doesn't want the common man to stay poor. The more money people have, the better business he will get. And the higher he can charge without losing clients.

There are many other examples. Maybe I'll add more later.

"Why, of course, the people don't want war," Goering shrugged. "Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."
"There is one difference," I pointed out. "In a democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars."
"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."
-- Herman Goering as related to Gustave Gilbert at the Nuremberg trials, from the book Nuremberg Diary.

Contributing to the division between the left and the right does nothing to help America.

Health care for all Americans. Decent schools with decent teachers. A living wage for those who work, no matter the type of work. Protect our borders, we are being invaded and the illegal aliens invading us are changing our culture and soon will be voting on our laws, this needs to stop. Get rid of all special interest groups and lobbyists. Create a civilian oversight group to watch congress, the police policing themselves never works. A fairer sharing of the wealth in America. Stop paying some of these worthless CEO's hundreds of millions of dollars to drag a company down. What's best for American is best for the masses, not the few.

Freedom. It was what the country was founded on. Freedom from taxes, freedom from government, freedom from social programs, etc.

If other people want the government to run their lives, they should have the freedom to choose that. Just as I should have the freedom to choose to live without government interference.

Just by stating this, you actually lean to the left. Many conservatives just want what is best for GWB and large corporations...
