I worked at Wal-Mart for two years and the people that came through there weren't your Wallstreet regulars. They pretty much hire exconvicts, urban kids, and crazies to do the unloading of the trucks, the janitorial work, and the stocking. The nice old ladies and the hip kids they put in difficult areas such as electronics and jewelry. The people who are tough and don't take crap they put at the Service Counter and lastly, the sheep that are closed mouthed and won't back talk a supervisor or a customer become cashiers. Don't believe me? I was told by my manager that one of the reasons I was hired was because I was attractive and could up sales in thier cell phone department. Turns out, I was always the number one or number two seller... then again, I'm convincing and smart, so who knows.
It's a low morale company... good luck in surviving.

No, they are not picky about who they hire. They will hire individuals whom are willing to work hard, have great personality, etc.. Sometimes, it may depends on the position. Go ahead and apply!

The only change last few years is that they tend not to hire kids under 18 any more. Most people will get hired by Wal-Mart if they apply.

you have to take a drug test and they do a backgroundcheck. You also have to answer a bunch of questions. At least that is what happened at the walmart I applied at. Yes, I got the job but no I did not take it.

They'll pretty much take anything that breathes but I know I couldn't get a job there because I have facial piercings.

They will pretty much hire anyone with transportation back and forth to work and if you pass the drug test.. And your appearance has to be clean.. no facial piercings or facial tattoos I think..

They generally do background checks and will usually not hire anyone with a felony record.

I don't know, but they sure piss me off. This old lady I know was a greeter there for 5 years and they canned her right before christmas. She's the sweetest lady, I can't imagine why they did that, but never fire the asshats that check you out so slowly.

just about anything that breathes- even illegal aliens. didnt hear abiut all those immigrants they had working and they got a huuuuge fine from the dept of immigration and naturalization.
