The first criterion is winning percentage.If that is the same the first tiebreaker is head to head record between the teams. The second tiebreaker is the record within the conference whether it is the west or east or if it is a divisional tie it the record within the division.

the division leaders get the top 3 spots from best division leader to worst, then the remaining 5 playoff spots go to the next 5 teams with the best records
