First, you were not served due process of the law by not getting papers so you can delay the court date so you can prepare a defense legally. It sounds to me that by what you wrote she is suing you for custody of your child and child support and to get you out of her life. You will get visitation rights but also chils support so be prepared for the awakening of your life. So in your defense you can tell the judge that you were never served and have no idea why youre there to delay the case for you to prepare.I cant see another reason from here why she would take you to court. Good luck

If you were served papers it will say. And if you don't understand there should be a phone number in the top left side of the papers. You have to know something. How do you know your going to court. Did she just tell you, and tell you the time in place. How ever you know you have to right to know why. It's more then likely its child support. Since the baby is 1 you owe already. The courts are going to try to get you to pay the highest amount first. They always do. If its to much for you, you are going to tell the judge you can't afford it. Your going to have to make a appeal.Your best bet for you today is get your last 3 pay stubs in take them to court. Because if it is child support your going to have to bring it. Prove of your bills, your income , etc...Advise to you pay, because at the end you will never get your income tax money back in if you ever want to own a home or in some cases a car, and the state has a right to hold your drivers license the state will take it from you. But if your paying your child support the state won't mess with you. In don't forget if it is about child support you have the right to have legal visitations to your child. In lets say in the future you have you child in the summer times. In those months you don't have to pay child support. But you can't just stop on your own. It has to be done by the courts. Remember this is your child too. The mother of your child don't have to talk to you. but the courts can give you the right to the child just like her. In other thing if you have any doubt that this child may not be yours or your not sure you tell that to the courts. In they will order a DNA . Why should you pay for someone else kid. Think about it.

what to expect?youre gonna get screwed so hard it will F you up for the rest of youre life.NO ****.been their done that its the system.women have all the rights.nobody gives a crap whether you are a good father.what matters is that you are not a mother.you will never be as good a parent as a mother can be.its BS.THINK ABOUT IT .a woman is carrying youre child and wants to have an abortion, you cant stop her even if its youre kid.but if you dont want to have that kid you dont have an option, bonus here, youre also an *** hole in this case.and if youre lucky you might get more than rule 17.probably not but miracles happen, and guaranteed to get raped on child support.if she is a real ***** you will get supervised visits once a week for the first 18 months and after that every other weekend and 1 midweek visitation per week SUPERVISED.unfortunatley most times in the courts and society the best dad in the world will still never be better than the worst mom.but if youre a deadbeat F U.ITS DUDES LIKE THAT THAT MAKE IT HARDER ON THOSE OF US THAT REALLY GIVE A ****.AND LADIES,YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.DROP DEAD.

Its not selfish at all. You obviously don't want this guy in ur life anymore, and if you have this baby his gonna be in your life again whether you like it or not, and not in a good way since he is the abusive type and gives his previous partners a lot of hassle. But the big question is: Do YOU want to keep your baby? Becoz people here can help you, but we can't decide on your future, you have to make that decision. If you do keep the baby, you could maybe move to a different area and start maybe at a different uni to continue your degree, becoz have you told him that you're pregnant? Coz if you didn't, he doesn't need to know, becoz he doesn't deserve to know, especially if he gives hassle to you and your child and makes your lives miserable, he is no fit father and doesn't deserve to have access to his children. You could either tell him, but maybe go to one of those family court, and make sure his parenting rights are taken away (if that's possible), becoz it might happen, becoz of his violent history. But if you think that you cant handle a baby and the father, and also having to do your degree in uni, then either have an abortion or give the baby up for adoption, becoz it wouldn't be fair for you or the baby to have a stressful life, especially with this b**stard in your life. But the decision is yours. More importantly don't let anyone talk you out of it, becoz it is your life, not theirs.

Your baby's mother is taking you to court for child support. You need a lawyer, and to have a visitation agreement drawn up. If you don't think the child is yours, you need to dispute the allegation, and have a paternity test, to prove that the child is yours. Either way, you need to talk to the young lady, and make arrangements to raise the child together, whether you now like each other or not. Good luck and God bless.

you can expect being talked to like a total lowlife by the judge. You can expect to have to pay for EVERYTHING for the next 18 years. Youi can expect to have no money for yourself, and basically be miserable for the rest of your life. You're totally screwed. They won't give a s h i t about anything you say. all they care about is that b i t ch who is talking you to court for the sole purpose of getting her hands on your money so that she can sit on her lazy a s s and do nothing for the rest of her life because she is probably a worthless, useless, pain in the a s s who never made you happy in the first place. was probably just some skank that you wanted to bang once, got knocked up, and is now making your life miserable. Good luck by the way brother. don't take any s h i t.

If you were served papers, then the complaint will tell you why you are going to court. If you were not served, you do not have to go.

-- Added after followup

If you only got a call, you might call back and ask what's up. But be assured, if you were not served papers, you're under no obligation to go. I don't know why a lawyer would call you up and tell you to go to the courthouse. That sounds very suspicious to me. Maybe he plans to serve you papers when you show up?

In your shoes - I'd try to find out all I could by phone - and if I'm not served papers - I wouldn't go.

It could be for child support. You can call the courts and find out what you are going for.
