Hi,

My question-or rather a series of question pertaining to one thought is. I'm really horrible at Math and Physics but I really want to be a Computer Engineer/Scientist when I grow up. I'm currently in HS and need to find study methods in order to do better.

-Can anyone suggest/ discuss their study methods for math and physics? and how many hours daily they study?
-Should I be a computer engineer/scientist even though I'm like horrible at math and physics? Can one achieve that ideal?

Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome too.

What I found helpful for math and physics was doing lots and lots of problems. If you can find a workbook, in addition to your textbook, that has additional problems to work on, I think that might be helpful. Math and physics exams test you on how to apply concepts, and that's what you'll be doing as an engineer, too. Doing additional problems gives you that extra practice and shows you how to apply concepts many different ways. The more ways you see, the less likely you'll be thrown off by a problem on one of your tests. Just make sure any practice book you get gives you good explanations to the answers. Really try to figure out the problem, and then review it with the explanation so you learn the process of solving the problem. Big book sellers, like Borders or Barnes and Noble, sell physics and math study guides.

I also used to take notes from my physics book on the process of how to solve problems. Then I kept my notes nearby when I had to work problems out for homework so I would remember the sequence of steps. Flash cards can be helpful in memorizing equations.

Also, it may help to get a tutor. Not all teachers present material in a way that best suits all students. Your learning style (visual, auditory, etc.) may not mesh with your teacher's teaching style, and sad to say, some high school teachers really don't do a great job of teaching science anyway. (I know that from experience.) A tutor could help present material in a way that is easiest for you to grasp and could give you study tips. I found my college science classes much more enjoyable and relevant.

As far as to your future career, computer engineering is very math oriented, but there are different kinds of science, some less heavy in math and physics than others. If you were interested, you could focus on some areas of biology that wouldn't involve as much math and physics.

For your math, I would advise going back a few grades and making sure you can get 100% on all that work in a reasonable amount of time. If you do not know your math facts--addition, subtraction, multiplication, division--then you definitely need to work on those. Math (and a lot of physics is math) is about thinking, logic, about what makes sense and about seeing patterns and connections. Try to change how you view it as well as improve your basic skills.

Also, take out books on math and physics from your library and review, review, review. When you think you know everything fairly well, keep reviewing. Overlearn it so that you get to a point where you don't even have to think about the questions and just know how to solve them.

i also want to be a computer engineer, and i also take math and physics.

Make friends ith your teachers-dont be rude-sit up froont and pay attention, then go for extra help and they can explain it a lot better, since they dont have a grudge against you

physics is formulas keep trying examples and poblems over and over maybe for 30-60 minutes every day. You will see your grades improve dramatically ( i did) as far as math goes take good notes and just practice. It will take some work but you can acheive your goal.

good luck

Well, in case you imply in university, then I advise English. Find a university with inventive writing guides. Of direction, you do not ought to get a measure in English. Personally I advise that you simply get a measure you'll be able to use to get a profession and write at the aspect. Most persons who write are not making a dwelling off of it. Have a again-up plan. Also, each and every creator I've heard speak approximately their writing says that they learn plenty. Just learn. Read a wide variety of books. Trust me, it will make you a larger creator. You'll study from others tips on how to write, what works, and many others.
