I found all of my beginner knitting and crochet patterns from www.michaels.com. I also did a search in Yahoo and it pulled up a lot of free beginner patterns. Best of luck and happy hooking!!

The book "The Happy Hooker" found at http://www.bust.com/knithappens/
happens to be the best book for cool, fun, easy, and original patterns. I definitely recomend checking it out.
