Because you aren't pregnant.
or because it's wrong and you need to take another one or see a doctor.

Or you ate something that gave you food poisoning.

You may be very early in pregnancy, if at all. You may have the flu. Sometimes your body will not have enough of the hormone that the test checks for so it will be negative.
Wait a few weeks and try the test again. If you still are feeling this way, make an appointment with your doctor.

If you think you are but are getting a negative result then you might want to go to the dr for a blood test. It is possible to get a false negative though if you are testing too early. If you haven't done so then wait till your period is about a week late and test first thing in the morning. Keep in mind though the sympotoms you are feeling could also be PMS.

Get your hormone levels checked. You could have an imbalance.
It's also not out of the realm of possibility that you are generating these symptoms because you want to be pregnant. Women who want to be pregnant sometimes even trick their bodies into lactating. The urge to be pregnant can be strong enough to create very real symptoms.
By the way, you never said how many days past ovulation you are. It's possible that you've been testing too early.

I took a test about 4days before my period was due and it came up neg. The day I was supposed to start my period I took another one and it was positive. You hormones almost double each day. If you have already missed your period and it is still coming up neg. see a doctor. Now remember that the desire to have a baby can actually cause your body to act like your pregnant. So don't stress.

Placebo effect...if you keep reinforcing the fact that you think youre preg, your body imitates it. Swear to god. BTW, that happened to me when I started birth control and when I got off of birth control. Is this a possibility? You should call your gyno if youre worried.
