I do, and I know it makes no sense, but I think I just do it out of habit.

Yes I say goodbye when getting on the phone but I supposed most humans do it because they don't feel right not saying it. I have wondered this question a few times before and often tried not to say it when leaving a message but I just can not bring myself to do it. It may have something to do with manners that are bred into people. When you leave someone's house you say goodbye out of good manners. Just as in when you see someone you say "hello" or "hi" or "boo" (in my case it would be boo). It also may have something to do with the fact that when you are talking to a voice message machine you almost feel as if you are talking to the person you are leaving the message for (which may be, and probably is, a subcouncious thing.) It also may have sometime to do with comfort. Talking to the machine makes you feel like someone is listening. I often would call up my friend Courtney and talk to her on her answering machine while she was sleeping. I would talk and talk and talk when I was bored. I do the same thing on instant messenger. Talk to people when their off line. I even talk to the computer auto response robots for comfort sometimes. Odd I know but it's human nature. So I supposed for the most part you say goodbye because of human nature although that may not be the case for some and it is not to say that those who don't do not have manners. Im only talking in most cases, and I apologize for this being such a long response.

I very just about continually postpone, finding on why i'm calling. And there are incredibly purely 2 or 3 people who I call decrease back in the event that they dont depart a message, or maybe then in the event that they do depart a message each and every so often i wont call decrease back till hours or days later. I choose text fabric messages maximum the time

I like to take the phone and smash it around the desk for about 10-20 seconds like I can't find the phone cradle. Its freakin hilarious!

I always say 'bye just like I would if I were actually talking to them. I don't think it's strange at all.

How would someone know, that you are really gone, if you don't tell them.
