Prince Harry is undergoing training to be sent out to Iraq to fight. I don't care what everyone else thinks. His identity will be kept secret, and he will be referred to as Private Windsor. Prince William will not, as he is air to the throne. The monarchy is a symbol of our tradition. The reigning monarch has more power then she uses. She also helps to keep the peace in the countries in the Commonwealth, including Africa. If it wasn't for the Royals, Tony Blair would be President not Prime Minister. She protests against certain things that Tony Blair wants, and that does help. So, no-the Royal Family aren't a waste of taxpayers money. And no, they are not an embarrassment to the UK.

Well they are assessing now whether or not harry can go into combat ... obviously it raises the risk factor and he can't be protected by SAS. BUT he's not in the direct line of succession and would be no loss (not being mean) to the country's make-up. Lol, can anyone imagine William and Kate living in some of that 60's prefab army accommodation? But it's quite obvious William as king isn't going to be leading the troops into battle ... but he's got to earn his medals somehow ... he might be sent on active service to kosovo or some other peacekeeping zone of seriously low risk.
Royal Family - Needed to maintain current system of 'unbiased' head of state. Although a president doesn't have to be a Bush/Putin figure ... Ireland's president MARY MC ALEESE does not hold undue power. Her signature/seal is required to sign it into law but the PM (Taoiseach) is head of government.

William and Harry will never be in a combat situation. They two of them don't even fly together on the same plane, let alone stand on a battlefield.
Honestly, why does England even have a royal family other than out of tradition? They don't even have any real power.

The only reason they are an embarrassment is because the media wont let them be, if anything they are a credit to Britain and all that we stand for.
They role in millions from tourists, it is a long standing tradition within this country going on for hundreds of years. Keep them, as no one wants to see Tony Blair on a stamp!

Well now, I don't think they put the royal children on the front line, especially the next in line to the throne after charlie boy...
The Queen I don't mind, William and Harry OK...Don't want Charles to be king, he might make his wife queen, perish the thought. The rest, let them work for a living, no helping hand get on with like the rest of us, they will either sink or swim...Do they go on hospital waiting lists...I don't think so.

Contentious topic. human beings experience strongly about the Royal relations, that they are an major uk asset. I actually have disconcerting mixed thoughts on account of their bloody historic past, their involvement in international exploitation of the undeveloped international and yet of their contribuition to worth motives. Do i have self assurance that a submit-cutting-part society nonetheless calls for archaic and superlfuous collectible figurines, a decorative throwback to absolute monarchist rule, to help unify and consolidate the rustic's identity? is this way of historic past quite mandatory, even as the historic past of it instills extra repugnance than pride? it truly is a debate without a lot target, except to likely save the status quo of Lord and vassal alive in the customary public knowledge for thus long because it truly is plausible in the recent age of whistle blowers. honestly I anticipate a extra physically powerful degree of publicity of the 'different' authorities because the wind includes the seed of political alertness even into the rooms the position secret alliances forge coverage. for my section, I see no justification for holding any historic past proper with the former equipment of Serfdom. it would want to all be exceeded back to the customary public resources and switched over into centres for assembly any such tremendous type of urgent desires. Artefacts might want to properly be bought off and some thing filled right into a cupboard the position sentimental visitors bypass to places of the lifeless. Mao Tseng had many faults, being a tyrant became one in all them, yet making a spoil with the previous as portion of his cultural revolution had lots going for it. the idea of a sparkling slate, of washing away the each so often ghostly intimidation of historic aberrations, has slightly ring of reality in it. besides the undeniable fact that, Royalty has no assessment with the Emperors, Royalty is a faith of its own and that i have no longer heard yet of any fool who has efficiently been waiting to regulate the technique faith - except the Romans perchance who managed to hijack the Christian message and change it right into a monarchy.

Keep them. As for combat, thats not really what they're for. Its all about tradition. And its good PR for thr UK. The royals are admired worldwide and Britain is admired for having them. I couldn't give a shite myself, but I don't understand why everyone is so against them. Relatively speaking, they don't cost us much and its probably a good investment.
