I am sorry to disillusion people, but Charles will be King. Under our constitution an act of Parliament is needed for the current heir to the throne, to `release` the crown to another, even if it is the next in line to the throne. Charles will have been bought up on the stories of `Great Uncle David` who abdicated the throne and the disgrace that it bought on the Monarchy and the family. He will be crowned King when our present Queen dies, even if he is a very very old man.The Monarch, dose not have to be of sound mind and body they just have to be alive and there. The only way he will never be King, is if he dies before Queen Elizabeth, then William will be the heir apparent.

Royalty really has no control over the running of the country. They are figureheads kept around for tradition. I don't think King Charles will do anything because I don't see him having a long reign he does a lot for charities now and I think that will be about all there will be. I think chances are better than not that he may not even get the crown due to his age men in the royal family don't seem to last long and he is already over 50 (if you look back in the recent history of royal family men he is ancient) The queen will be kicking for quite a few more years and unless they make changes the only ways to get her off the thrown are death, mental incappacity. If you look at her mum she was with us until after her 100th birthday. So the future isn't very certain for Charles to become King. Maybe you should ask if King William will make a difference or rule with some of his mothers qualities and ideals.

I don't think he could match the queens qualities and achievements if he is king. The fact is, he will never be king b'coz Prince William is the next heir to the throne. Charles is a divorcee and so does Camilla his current wife. This is a disgrace to British royalty.Remember the Duke of York (formerly King Edward the VIII-- he was abdicated when he married the twice divorced American Wallis Simpsom.

The monarch has very little influence on the quality of life in the country - that is much more down to the government of the day plus wider social, media, economic trends.
As a role model, Charles has adopted a more environmentally friendly and multi cultural approach than the Queen, but she is hard to match in terms of personal probity and devotion to duty.

Don't worry I don't think Queen Elizabeth will die or abdicate soon so due to that when it is Prince Charles turn, I think it'll be a short reign. I don't think Charles would die within the next decade but I don't believe he could live as old as his grandmother did or his mother, I believe will be able to.
So don't worry we'll be Prince William there soon.

no way , and with a bit off luck he will not get to be king, but pass the crown on to william, charles has not got our (most off the country ,s) respect and camilla should never be queen
so no he shouldnt be king, and he would never live up to his mothers reputation or his grand mothers either therefore no he would not make this country better quality ,,,,,

Sorry to spoil your thought. Because King Charley will never be king of England. His son William will. And William is fully aware of his responsibilities and his future as a future King to England.
If I had my way Great Britain would be back to the great Monarchy it used to be.

Apart from the fact that Prince Charles is not king and will never be king? Maybe one of his sons will be king? It won't make any difference, royalty don't have any power in this country, apart form the power wealth brings that is.

Well, maybe he can graduate from merely being mediocre to just plain boring. It isn't much to strive for, but for Charles that may the only step in the right direction.
