Just the ability to love at all is it's own reward....the bad
guys ultimately have to live their whole lives with the
decisions they've made and I've heard that in the end
there is a lightness of being and no connection to earthly
pain.

Could she be any more happy? Love made her vibrate with delirious joy! He had said he loved only her over the romantic candle lit dinner he had cooked for her that night. The diamond on the ring had sparkled and danced with an inner fire that matched the one in her heart as he slipped it on her finger from bended knee. She had waited all her life for THE one that would make her feel this way and he had finally come into her life six months ago. She didn’t realize that her smile made her look like an angel as she replayed the scene in her mind as if to make it more real. As if drawn to the grace of her love he turned his head to look at her as they drove through the night. He wanted to celebrate the good news of her acceptance with his parents and she seen no reason not to go and do so.

Suddenly the night became a nightmare as a deer crashed across the hood of the car it's hooves smashing through the windshield, it's scream mingling with her own and the sound of metal being torn asunder as the car spun into a huge oak tree. There was no time for another thought as darkness mercifully closed in upon her.

Her head hurt and her eyes didn't want to open against the glare.

"Doctor, you've nicked the artery he's bleeding to death - do something!"

Who was that and where was she? Was this some kind of dream? As she puzzled over it darkness claimed her again.

"Can you hear me? Please wakeup sweetheart. It's your mother. Please wakeup!"

She opened her eyes to see the face of her mother bending close to her. What was that she was saying? A car accident? They couldn't save him? The doctor was under the influence and he bled to death? Oh no! It can't be! But her mother was saying it was and that she must be strong. Was she still having the nightmare?

She relived those moments again as she sat in the courtroom listening to the judge give the doctor probation. The doctor didn't even have to show up in court - her attorney handled the proceedings. This wasn't the first time that she had been brought up on charges but she was a powerful political influence in the small town of 5,000 so she got away with it every time. But just in case that wasn’t enough, her son was a high powered attorney who used every trick in the book to keep his mother from losing her medical license and facing manslaughter charges.

As the courtroom emptied she vowed the doctor would not get away so easily for killing her fiancé. The tears had dried when her fiance's coffin had been lowered into the ground and a cold anger had taken their place.

She would put her plan into effect tomorrow. The doctor would pay, yes indeed, and her son the attorney wouldn't be able to help her this time!

Weary yet determined she went to bed that night knowing that at this time tomorrow the doctor would be dead after suffering greatly before she closed her eyes that final time. She had caused unspeakable pain to so many in the small town with her incompetence and it was only fair that she should feel it herself!

Sleep came fitfully that night followed with a dream. She ran across a beautiful emerald field in a gown of flowing white. The dew sparkled like diamonds on the tips of the grass and she laughed as a butterfly danced in front of her. She ran on and on never tiring. Joy filled her heart because she was meeting her beloved just over the next hill! Her veil floated on the current of her passage as her swiftly running feet carried onward. Unaware she stopped, for suddenly he was there!

"My love I know what is in your heart because our hearts beat as one. I've come to ask you to forgive, for in forgiving her you will set us both free. Will you do that my beautiful butterfly?"

Looking into his eyes she could only nod her head yes as tears flowed onto the grass at her feet to sparkle and become as dew. A soft smile began on her face as she looked at the light sparkling and dancing off the dew. She looked up and

opened her eyes in the morning sun with the realization that she had forgiven. She arose and with her nightgown fluttering gently around her feet she walked towards the window to see the dew on the grass she knew would be there. She knew it would be there just as she knew she now had a peace without pain that only true love can give...
