Im trying to watch my weight and have recently been making sure I have at least 5 fruit a day.

What I want to know is as I have PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and I should watch my blood sugar to keep it down shoud I be eating all this fruit cos fruit contains natural sugar. Or is it ok if its natural?

hi ive got pcos as well,
from what ive heard the best deit to go on is the low gi one as it controls the sugar levels in the body which can help pcos side affects

but to be honest i'm just doing a low cal diet and excersise the weights coming off but it's slower than with other people who havent got pcos

You should limit your fruit intake, but don't cut it out entirely. Focus on fruits that are lower in sugar, like berries and melons, and avoid the higher sugar fruits, like grapes and oranges. Try to get more of your fiber from vegetables instead. And don't drink fruit juices -- they are almost as bad for you as sodas, and have tons of calories! You're better off eating the whole fruit instead.

You should try to eat a HEALTHY carb diet, meaning cut out all refined carbohydrates -- don't eat white breads, only whole grain, don't eat a lot of white rice, try brown instead, eat sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes, don't put sugar on anything. Look at the South Beach Diet. Even if you don't follow the diet, the principles are really good. There is also a good book on nutrition for PCOSers, called The PCOS Diet Book, by Colette Harris.
