I am debating on buying a bottle warmer or just put the bottle of formula in a bowl of hot water before feedings. How long would it take the bottle to warm in the bowl of hot water? It's not like I have to go far to get to my kitchen at nights or anything. If you do use a bottle warmer which is your favorite?

I use the one made by The First Years company. I really like it. I keep it upstairs and it has a mini cooler to hold the bottles so I don't have to go downstairs to the kitchen at night. The cooler will only hold the skinny type bottles and not the fat stubby type, but it will heat any type. It will also heat baby food bottles. The only thing I don't like about it is that the warming chamber needs to be cleaned about every 4 days because minerals in the water build up and then it has a burnt smell to it. It's easy to clean though, I soak it with vinegar. This might just be because I have hard water though.

I also just use hot tap water in the sink to warm a bottle during the day and mostly use the warmer at night. I just fill the sink with the hot tap water and let the bottle sit there for about 5-10 minutes or so and it's done. But that's not the best way when you have a hungry crying baby, so then I use the warmer which is done in 3 minutes.

No you don't need to spend any more money than you already have, save that money for more formula or diapers.
How old is your baby? Most recommend that the first six months you need to warm the bottle.Which I found placing the bottle in the sink and just running hot water over it for a minute while I did something else around the kitchen and then after a minute or so it would be ready and give it a couple of shakes to move around the heat evenly. Never had a problem with it,give it a try and hope you find my answer helpful.Good luck mommy!

I bought a bottle warmer. It also warmed baby food jars, too. By the time it was warm enough, my baby was screaming to the point it had hiccups. They don't always heat evenly, they usually make it too hot (because the "low" setting still has a chill!), and it's one more stupid gadget they convince you that you HAVE to buy. The bowl of hot water works fine. One gadget that was worth it, however, was the Advent bottle sterilizer....it sterilized 4 bottles, nipples and caps in 4-7 minutes in the microwave with just a cup or two of water! No more boiling water on the stove and worrying about melting the bottles if they touch the sides too long! I was in love!

I would say just put a cup of water in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, then when it is warm, put it in with the formula in the baby bottle... that is how we did it and my son did just fine... however at around 4 months, we just used warm tap water.. even if he/she screams, they are not starving... and it doesn;t take that long... a bottle warmer is just another thing to take up space, and something that you'll end up getting rid of after the baby is done with bottles.. I have a friend who tried one, and it was just too much of a pain, so she ended up sticking it in the cupboard after 2 months, and never touched it again... I think you will do fine without it... but if you want one, then get one... we are not of authority to tell you what to do.. good luck!!!!

I use the First Years bottle warmer and both my husband and I think that it's the best invention! Not only does it warm up bottles but it also works with baby food jars, so it's been great for us! My son doesn't have the patience to wait for warm tap water to warm it up. With the bottle warmer it only takes a minute... and it's done!
If you do a lot of traveling or you go camping often, get one that can charge through your cars cigarette lighter... I promise... it's a life saver!

I bought a bottle warmer and used it once. It was actually faster to either microwave water in a bowl for two minutes and heat the bottle that way or run it under hot water in the sink. That is my take on it.

it helps but u need a system... i used to need a couple bottles through the night, but hated getting up... i would get little containers and fill it with what we needed... 2 containers of powder formula with the exact amount... 2 containers with 4 oz of water.. also i did 2 containers with the water needed to fill the warmer... it took a few nights, but i got the hang of it after a while and it was nice.. that 2 extra minutes of prep time and 2 min in the morning cleaning the mess was worth the better resting nights... i bought a small bin to fill with the containers, so they werent all scattered... that took a couple nights before i realized to do that...
hope it was helpful.....
i bought the only warmer that came with the avent bottles... and it worked perfectly
the hot water trick takes way longer, it took my sink the same amount of time to warm the water than the bottle warmer... and in bed it was easy to hold the baby while doing all this...

I never used a bottle warmer. I thought it just to be easier to use room temp water. If you begin your child with a bottle warmer, they may get used to it their fore they will not eat it unless warmed. This makes it incredibly hard to go anywhere or do anything without lugging along your bottle warmer. Just another thing to worry about! I would say to nix the idea!

That's a very safe method for warming a bottle, and been used for years. Buying one would be a good option because it wouldn't ever over heat the formula. Never put a babies bottle in the microwave to heat even for a few seconds, the microwave heat can destroy certain vitamins and nutrients,in the formula, and can cause severe burns to the babies mouth and throat, even if you test it the milk, the temp can remain scalding in the center SW RNP

I just use hot water to warm the bottle. But if you use powder to mix you don't need to warm the formula if it's room temp. That's what I usually do.
