A few questions about 'EMO's'? Any help would be appreciated?

-First, what exactly is an 'EMO'? (Brief discription.)
-Is it true that alot of 'EMO's' participate in 'cutting' behaviors, and why? What do they get from it?

EMO is just a passing fad. I think it is just a high school kid thing. I always thought EMO was emotional. Well hell..we all are a bit emo then.
They supposedly cut themselves to take away their mental pain. Not all of them, but some I guess.


My opinion...they should live life first. Most of them don't even know what real pain is like.




Additional information...
Someone said being emo meant they dressed in black and were really depressed. I disagree with that statement. Cause I dress in dark clothing (mostly black) and have suffered with depression for years. And I'm not some wrist slitting little f*ck who's trying to get attention. I am far from being a so called "emo"

emo is a stereotype for someone who dresses in black, slits their wrists and is just really sad. but what emo really is, is a subculture that came from the underground washington dc scene in the late 90s. bands like dashboard confessional, taking back sunday, and thrursday *can* be described as emo. its just a really sensitive and romantic scene.

well the cutting thing can be a stereotype i mean maybe some really sad people do it but that isnt necesarily emo, its just insane.

I have wondered what exactly an "EMO" is myself....it makes me think of Elmo. But I think it's pretty close to gay goth.
