first, try to get the common denominator for both side, then compare the numerator.

1/8 & 3/10, common denom like 80,
multiply 1/8 by 10 for both deno & num
=> 10/80
similarly, for 3/10 multiply by 8
=> 24/80
now compare 10/80 & 24/80, obviously 24/80 or 3/10 is bigger

3/4 & 4/10, common denominator is 40, so,

3/4 & 4/10 become 12/40 & 16/40 and 16/40 or 4/10 is bigger

4/8 & 2/4, common denom is 8, and so
4/8 & 2/4 become 4/8 & 4/8 => they are equal

2/3 & 3/4, common denom is 12, and so
2/3 & 3/4 become 8/12 & 9/12 => 9/12 or 3/4 is bigger

26/100 & 1/4, w/ common denom is 100, and so
26/100 & 1/4 become 26/100 and 25/100, therefore, 26/100 is greater.

1/8 < 3/10
3/4 > 4/10
4/8 = 1/2
3/4 > 2/3

Fractions consist of a numerator and a denominator. The numerator is the top number in the fraction and the denominator is the bottom number.

First, you must realize that if the numerator equals the denominator, the fraction is equal to one. For example: 1/1 = 1, 2/2 = 1, 3/3 = 1, 100/100 = 1.

In order to compare two seemingly different fractions, you have to multiply the fractions and make their denominator's equal. That way, whichever one has the largest numerator is the larger fraction.

Now for the last part, in order to get the denominator the same you must multiply 1/4 by 25/25. Note: 25/25 = 1, so you aren't changing the fraction.

Now the fractions become 26/100 versus 25/100, since 4*25 = 100. Now you know that 26/100 > 1/4

In order to solve these comparison equations you need to find what's called a Common Denominator. 1/8 <> 3/10 I would just multiply the denominators and get 80.

Then I would adjust my fractions (1/8) 8 goes into 80 10 times and 10 times 1 is 10. So my new fraction is 10/80. For 3/10...10 goes into 80 8 times, and 8 times 3 is 24. My new fraction is 24/80.

Now I'm comparing 10/80 to 24/80 and it's easy to see that 10/80 < 24/80. Reducing back down you can say 1/8 < 3/10. Another way to do it is to just divide 1 by 8 which is 0.125 and 3 by 10 which is 0.3 Again it's easy to see that 0.125 < 0.3

3/4 (0.75 or 30/40) > 4/10 (0.4 or 16/40)

4/8 (0.5 or 16/32) = 2/4 (0.5 or 16/32)

2/3 (0.67 or 8/12) < 3/4 (0.75 or 9/12)

Hope that helped...Good Luck with your Math.
