George Washington ran unopposed so I don't think he made that many promises. The only promise I know he made was that he would not hold the presidency and become a king. He only served two terms and he set the standard for all presidents until FDR.

What? Understand the first part and would have to say that he really didn't "run" for President....he was chosen, so there goes his "promises"...he didn't have to make any...as for the 2nd part, I can't understand what you're trying to say...
