and start paying attention to the real problems that assail us? Problems like abject poverty, a degrading environment, and millions without access to quality healthcare?

Or will so many of our fellow citizens insist on continuing the attacks on gay Americans. Christ spoke to us about poverty, and caring for those with needs. We hve been given stewardship (not meaning not dominion but responsibility) for this earth. Christ said not one word about homosexuality. So, how is it that it and not the issues Christ dealt with has become the primary foccus of so many "Christians" today? I am a straight man, married for over 27 years but when I see any Americans attacked, I feel attacked.

Society needs to be properly educated that homosexuality is no threat to anyone. Once that is done, then we can move onto more important matters, like poverty, the environment, cleaning up the government, etc.

As long as you allow religious fundamentalists to run the country, homosexuality will always be attacked. The fundamentalists are not the majority but they are well organised. They vote. Many Americans can't be bothered voting and then wonder why they have so many nutters in Congress and the White House. Encourage all your friends to vote and you might decrease the power of the religious right.

That would be so wonderful. I guess to so many, we make a nice distraction from all the real issues. I would love to focus on things like the war and the environment. My ex-boy, who is also bi, described the situation perfectly once: "It's like you're a firefighter, and you want to go fight fires, but people are always stealing your helmet and tying knots in your hose." We LGBTs have to attend to this stuff in order to be effective, which is a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Unfortunately no. Society is completely whacked out as a whole. And it's not a new thing at all. Our society has never been one to push aside all of the nonsense & spotlight whats REALLY important. Everyone is too busy trying to figure out who's sleeping with who, why, and how good was it. It's ridiculous and sad.
If all of the people who are concerned about my sexual identity as a lesbian would channel that mental energy to a more worthy cause.....what a difference they could make in the world today. But ignorance and stubborness will always hold them back.

The ones who seem to push the so called "Gay Agenda" are the leaders of Religious Right. To this day i have never seen gay organization that has promoted the so called gay agenda.

When you have men of religion preach hate from the pulpit how can one trust of have faith in such men?

You know what I think that your question is right and America does need to worry about other things and leave the gay community alone. Thank you!
