When you are pregnant you should not diet or try to lose weight. If you are overweight you will be advised to gain less weight than the average weight person. I was overweight when I got pregnant and gained only 17 lbs. during pregnancy. I ended up losing all the pregnancy weight and much more when I was breastfeeding. some things you can do while pregnant are eat better. Watch your calorie intake and make sure you limit your junk food or fatty foods. You can also do some exercise depending on your fitness level. You can walk, swim, or take prenatal yoga. Talk to your OB about your weight and follow their advice regarding your diet and exercise. Congratulations!

This can totally be normal for some women. I lost weight so much when I was pregnant with my son that I had to eat fatty foods for a few weeks. In the early months of pregnancy (which you are in) it's normal for a woman's weight to fluctuate and that can mean go up or down. Weight loss can represent fetal growth at the expense of the mother. If you honestly believe that your nutrient intake has been adequate, I would not worry. Occasionally, we see weights stabilize or drop after a month of particularly rapid weight gain. Fluctuations are normal; weight gain does not follow a smooth curve. SO just continue to make sure you eat right and drink enough water (VERY IMPORTANT) and you should be fine. If it really starts to worry you, go see your doctor. Only she/he can give you the medical advice you really need! Hope this helps!

I've been told by doctors that when a person is pregnant, they gain the weight they need to maintain the pregnancy in the first three months or so. If you were underweight for instance, you'll probably gain a lot in your first few months, otherwise you're more likely to miscarry. you have to trust that your body knows what it is doing. if you don't want to be pregnant, have an abortion. if you want the baby, put away your scale for now, buy some maternity clothes, and worry about the extra weight after you give birth. it comes off pretty easily for most women especially if they breastfeed. so don't worry about it now, worry about your baby!

You should not do anything to lose weight until after the baby is born.
The fetus doesn't live off of stored fat, but gets nourishment from what you eat every day. Decreasing caloric intake will deprive your baby of nutrients.
Eat a good, healthy diet -- No junk food, no fast food, no soda. That way at least you won't gain in excess of what you need for the baby.
Stay active -- walk every day, or some other sort of gentle exercise (or whatever you are used to), and that will help, too.
Good luck!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I hope you are not considering trying to lose weight WHILE you are pregnant. You can try to limit the amount of weight you gain by exercising and eating healthy foods. You only need about 200 extra calories per day while you are pregnant. That's about like eating and extra sandwich. Other than that try not to give in to all the ice cream (or whatever it s you want) cravings. You can workout like you normally did until you are in your second trimester, then it will be time to switch to low impact workouts like swimming and walking. Good luck!

You can't really. You can eat healthy and exercise for 30 minutes a day. This will prepare your body for faster and easier weightloss after the baby is born. Plus, it will help you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Remember that you don't need to add extra calories when you are pregnant. You don't really need to eat for two. Just watch what you are eating and exercise and you won't gain excess weight during the pregnancy.

NOTHING! You shouldn't diet or do anything to try to lose weight while pregnant - it may not affect the baby but it will definitely affect how you are feeling. I wouldn't worry about the extra weight until after giving birth...just start to eat healthier now and watch the junk food...it should all even out in the end.

This isn't the right time to put yourself on a weight-loss regimen; your baby-to-be's well being should be first and foremost in your agenda, not starving yourself in order to still be able to fit in your pre-pregnancy wardrobe. Doing so may result in serious complications to the developing fetus. Congenital disorders such as spina bifida, anencephalia, hydrocephalia, myelomeningocele {all of them of the central nervous system} and lots of other birth defects have been linked to inapropriate maternal nutrition during pregnancy; specially during this all-important first trimester where your baby's organs are developing. Yes, you may limit your caloric intake by avoiding sweets, fried foods, fatty foods, lots of refined starchy foods, and junk food in general. But you still need an appropriate daily intake of fruits and veggies, protein sources [such as lean meats, nuts, legumes], dairy foods [low-fat or skim milk, cheese, yogurt], unrefined carbohydrates [whole grain cereals and bread]. Under no circumstances go on a diet without first talking to your OB/GYN; doing so could result in a low-birth-weight baby, or a baby with congenital diseases linked to maternal malnutrition. You should also be evaluated to determine if your weight gain might be related to water retention and/or high blood pressure [preeclampsia]. Though very rare during the first trimester, it sometimes does happen, and it can put both you and your baby at risk. So call your attending physician ASAP, and make an appointment to talk to him/her about this issue. Congratulations, best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy and uncomplicated delivery of a healthy baby. Hope that my advice has been of help.

It is never a good idea to intentionally lose weight while pregnant. Maintaining it and not gaining excessive weight from here on out are much better options.
