He entered through the curtain normally. One thing of note, though, is that when the music played him off to the first commercial break, he made a motion with his hands as if swinging a golf club.

He walked through the rainbow-colored curtains and went forward onto his spot for the monologue, which was marked by a star on the floor. Of course, you could only see the star if you were there in person.

Walked out from behind the curtains and waved to the audience, if my "old geezer" memory serves correctly, then addressed the audience with monologue of jokes. He did nothing special, beyond that.
