The "Ghost" version is the Righteous Brothers. Their hit recording was originally released in 1965. But the original version of the song was an instrumental for the movie "Unchained" in 1955, with two vocal cover versions by Roy Hamilton & Al Hibbler making the top ten charts.

no... i think you have it mixed it. the version used in ghost was the righteous brothers. it was originally written by hy zaret in 1936 and was turned into the song we know it as by alex north who put it in a 1955 prison movie entitled "unchained".

They didn't write the song though - it was written by Alex North (who composed film music) with lyrics by Hy Zaret.
