The mountains. There's nothing like getting away from civilization, where you rarely see other people, and can be surrounded by nature. The beauty is immense, the rock solid and real, the trail your guide. Just you and your surroundings. You can think about anything you want, or nothing at all. This is the closest I've ever felt to God (including going to church) and the best place to feel alive. Lucky, in fact blessed, to be alive.

A nice walk around the neighborhood used to do the trick. Can't do that now because most of the kids are friends or know my daughter. I can't escape the questions. When is she coming over, home, out, etc? They usually end up walking with me. Which is nice don't get me wrong ( I love kids) but sometimes you just want some quiet time. No kids, no anyone. I don't get that much anymore. *sigh*

When I lived in Orlando, FL. I would visit this little place that was a coffee house and movie rental place all in one. I can't remember the name for the life of me though... Here in Austin, may end up at a cool little place called the Green Muse... or just lose myself in my computer for a while...

the shower...the beanbag section of the library, the steps by a pond, the cut-out by my geography class, 4th floor of the library, the courtyard in the Business area, Bubble Tea restaurant, etc...it changes every once in a while, I'm a student always on the move. :)

There's a road that runs by our house. It has a beautiful view. When I need to, I'll take long walks down that road and just enjoy the beauty of everything around me.

When I was a teenager it was my family's cabin on the lake, but these days I have to settle for the patio outside, and the best time for me is about 3am, when everyone else is asleep ;)

I just pack a few things, get in my car, and take road trips on a whim, not knowing where I'm going. It's cool, and meet alot of interesting people!!

Not far actually, I just go sit in front of my easel and paint for about 2 hours... after that.. I'm a NEW person!
