Usually one piece at a time cause you gotta watch out for those kernels. Once they get stuck in there it's all over!

I was just recently informed that I cup a handful and pull each piece in by darting out my tongue, when it adheres to a piece, I yank it in like a lizard. It is extrememly efficient and quite a spectacle.
