My youngest sister has been caught with having some very inappropriate stuff on her myspace page & my dad wants to block the site so that she can't use it. (She's a hermit but needs to get out, hang out w/ her friends & get a life anyways.) The only problem is that he doesn't want to block it from me cause I have a friend who lives in Australia that I communicate with on there. Does anyone know how you can block certain websites on just certain computers? We have 3 computers (dad's, sister's & mine that I bought myself) but only need to block the one. Right now all we know how to do is to log into our router & completely block or unblock the site whenever but it's getting to be a pain to have to do that whenever we want to use a site....we just want to prevent access for my sister. Any help would be appreciated!!!

P.S. We have a DLink router, cable net access & Windows XP OS

Like the other person said, open your 'hosts' file with notepad. the directory should be something like:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Now copy and paste onto the bottom, the following:

127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
127.0.0.1 browseusers.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 search.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 login.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 profile.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 blog.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 forum.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 favorites.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 groups.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 events.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 classifieds.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 collect.myspace.com

Now save the file.
I have to do this at work to keep my employees out of myspace. If you dont have all the above lines, and she's crafty, then she could get around it. I've found that if you put in all those lines though, that most of my employees cant bypass it.

What this does?
Well, this is kind of like a bookmark for the computer. If it cant find something, it will reroute to the default page listed in the ip address. It can also be used as a quick reference for the computer to look up common sites that you frequent, and save on load time. For our purposes though, every time she tries to get into myspace, the computer will just reroute her to a garbage page. Make sure that you only do it on her computer.

This is what we did to control our daughters usage on the computer. We downloaded a program called net nanny. What it does is it lets you, the parent, know where your children are going on the net, control how much time they're on the net and block specific websites. The good thing about it is you can try it for free for 15 days and if you don't like it you can look for other software that is similar to help you out.

depends on how intelligent your son is. You can block it on a browser or many most used browsers but there is no way to really block it.However search for "website parental control" or something and you will find a lot of solutions However if he is smart enough he will just install another browser.Plus he can always use a web proxy, uninstall the blocking software and improvise many things

YES
You can do it with a host file. it is a file in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc" (etc)
double click on the HOSTS file and open with Notepad then add
"127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com"
to the end of the document then save.
easy fix to a pesky myspace addict
