Think of your maths class......squares, circles, octagons,ect...
Or a geometry set....
They're shapes that you draw with a ruler, setsquare, compass.
You can measure their angles, length, width etc.
I just did a yahoo search and checked out the pictures on the first two sites that came up. they'll help you understand more ways the term can be applied.

Geometric shapes are ones that can be described mathematically, like a square, rectangle, triangle, etc.
