Technically, you don't need one. If you have a job, it helps a lot. However, if you're on campus, you should be close enough to walk to anything.

To make your life easier, make friends with people who do have cars.

Many public and private I assume, colleges do not allow freshmen to have cars on campus. Are you talking about Cal State fullerton? I doubt it but there are many CSU campuses, I looked at fullerton's website. It will allow you but doesn't address whether you need a car to survive.

At each campus website you should find out if you are allowed a parking permit as a freshmen. It is probably possible to get by without a car at most campuses, however there are other concerns as well.

Will you be working off campus, do you plan to drive home alot.

Those sort of questions need to be answered by you.

It depends on the school. Many big schools don't allow freshman to have cars. They're really not necessary when you're living on campus anyway, when you need to go places off campus there are usually buses or an older friend that has a car and can give you a ride.

properly this relies upon on how close you're to something that resembles night life. Having no automobile could be a solid element. while you're say a mile or so from "city" or from a club, eating place, movie coach and so on....then not having a automobile could be a income because of the fact purely strolling mutually tells you 2 issues. a million. She is extremely involved in you. 2 She is extremely involved in passing it sluggish with you. now not putting the cart in the previous the horse. Be trustworthy along with her approximately your difficulty. tell her your a poor college student and cant have the money for a automobile spectacular now. we've all been there. Now you apart from mght don't want a automobile to do something mutually. Ask her to bypass to the college soccer game, ask her to bypass to the college (her in demand interest). there's a worldwide of innovations obtainable to you interior the relationship worldwide....get your self some self belief and then do not permit your ego get too vast or interior the way and issues would be lots better than you theory they might.

I had a car when I was freshman and I could drive it there and back and such...no problem

I lived on campus for 4 1/2 years and didn't need a car except to go home or come back. most of my friends that had cars kept them parked til school vacations.

Although it is very convenient, if you want to go anywhere off-campus, I wouldn't advise getting a vehicle if you will have to get a job to pay for it. Education is much more important, so I would spend my time on studying instead of at a job if you have the luxury of not having to have a job. I had to work all throughout college part-time and this is my last semester and I just quit my job at the end of last semester and it gives you so much time to get your studies done, my grades went way up. You can always bum rides from people, i knew plenty of people who did that.

Living on campus, you will not need a car. Public transportation is always available.

You will need a car to get there. You'll also need it to go places and to get home during holidays.
