I only asked for one thing: Frank Herbert's greatest book: "Dune."
My Dad kind of chuckled when he asked me what I would like for Xmas, and I replied, "All I'd like is Dune, so I won't have to keep checking it out from the library and paying late fees on it." That was what I got from him. He also got me a $25 gift card to Best Buy, and from my dad's parent's I got a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart and both cards were put to very good use. But, by far, my favorite gift I got was Frank Herbert's masterpiece, Dune.

I guess as I started growing up I just stopped begging Dad for everything under the sun, and my tastes turned to other things. I've always heard from people, including his parents, that that kind of thing is perfectly normal. Whatever, if it is or isn't, I got what I wanted, and I couldn't be happier :)

It sounds so cliche, but just spending time with the ones you love is the best present ever. Those are the moments that last forever. It just seems that families and friends come together more at Christmas than any other time of year. What else even comes close?

To spend time with my grandparents, who are in their 90's. Also to spend time with my parents, niece, nephew and of course with my children.
Gifts come and go and yes I got some but nothing was so precious as time. You only realize this once someone you loved is gone.
