I live in the arid desert in Canada and I guess I am lucky. I don't do anything to mine, they grow outside and spread like weeds. I have them in hot sunny areas so they will bloom. They grow in sand and need practically no water.

Yukkas will tolerate bright sun to half shade, and need to be watered enough to keep the compost moist, but its not wise to let the plant sit in water.
The plants are pretty hardy - they'll love being outside in the summer, and If it is a yukka without the long brown trunk (just a yukka tip) you can also plant it outside fulltime. It will probably flower if you do this.
To clean the leaves use nothing more than a damp soft cloth.

Yukka's are really pretty simple to take care of. Partial shade to full sun is what the like the best. They do well in about any soil type and require little maintainence. Water about once a week and it should grow well for for.

Let her have light aplenty, keep her out of cold draughts, water sparingly - she doesn't need very much at all, say every fortnight just a smidgen. Leave dying leaves on until completely shrivelled. Talk to her, often - the carbon dioxide is good for her! Make sure there's height to grow up into too! Re-pot every two years or so. Water sparingly, no cold draughts, plenty of light. How high is your ceiling?

Here in S/E Wisconsin they grow well outside, but the ants love to destroy the flowers and seed pods. Occasional sprays of Orthene work well for theat.

I have the feeling that they will become invasive sometime soon, thjey are doing so well in places that do not stay wet long.

If you are keeping your yucca outside for summer make shure you use house plant insecticide before you bring it back to the room, because you can bring lots of "guests" for your other plants.
