China is a great country with great people. One that has survived and thrived much longer than "success stories" like the USA.

However, as they are modernizing, they still lag far behind on such things as human rights, civil rights, and person expression and freedom. This doesn't make them a bad country, simply one that has been a certain way for a long long time and can't be expected to change over night. However, they should be expected to change in these regards eventually...and sooner rather than later.

The closest I got was Hong Kong. That was before it went back to China. This is the China that mowed down its own citizens at Tiananmen Square protests in 1989. So yes, China is a bad place.

the fact that they give a 14 % trade deduction on companies that send trade out of china but put a 14 % hit on incoming trade. the fact that they devalue their money by 40 % to gain an even greater advantage on world trade and the fact that they are using monies that come in as aid for their people to buy munitions and build submarines. they keep their people in poverty and use that to get foreign aid.

since this question was asked under politics, ill relate it to politics... I dont think china is a BAD country.. but after n.korea threatened us with nukes and china refused to punish n. korea.. i questioned china a little.. but gave them the benefit of the doubt that they just wanted to stay out of it, which i respect. Now.. the fact that a month later they announce that they are planning to build up their naval force, makes me start to question them again...

You forgot Tianamen Square, didn't you?

China is a great country... great at suppressing human rights, freedom of the press, speech and religion...

and they've got such a good pollution control system, they're systematically turning the Yellow River to orange (isn't that beautiful?)

I think it a great country that has more True Christian Believer than even the States. As more and more Chinese become Christians, you will find China becoming a greater country.

No, China is our friend.

I don't think it is a 'bad' country. Just bad leaders. After all everything in the dollar store is 'Made In China'.

Sure it's a great country. But I'd still like our jobs to come back from there.

no, it's not, but then I tell you what, one-party system is actually good for china, why? For 5000 years(yes, that's right), they have been ruled by a single person, or family eg:the person and his royal family.

I don't think China is bad, just the government. They need help.
