I like Richards, but I don't think I'd listen to him without Jagger.

There are too many to name one without splitting into two groups: electric and acoustic. I would have to say that the only guy that can truly boast top chops on both wuold be Jorma Kaukonen. Who you say? He was a member of Jefferson Airplane back in the day and went on to form Hot Tuna with Jack Cassidy. They play every show with one acoustic set followed by a rock set. Best of both worlds and some of the most amazing guitar I've ever heard. I got started on him with a live tape of a SOLO show from the 70's- he was making love to his guitar! I thought it was a whole band and when I found out it was one guy, he shot straight to the top of my list.

I'm not the only one that thinks he's a guitar god. He has his own signature model of Epiphone guitar. You'll have to dig around a little for his music but it's worth it.

stevie ray vaughn has got to be right up there.

Stevie had many ways of showing you that he had not only talent, but he also had a feeling for playing the blues. He was good with it, his execution and his hands. He seemed to be flawless, the way he moved with it. —B.B. King

I remember being fascinated by the fact that he never, ever seemed to be lost in any way. I mean, it wasn't ever that he took a breather or paused to think where he was going to go next. It just flowed out of him. —Eric Clapton

Hendrix and Page are the Grestest Guitarist because both introduced a new way to play guitar and they both inspired many guitarists.

i love Page (not in a gay way).. he was simply amazing. he was purely self taught (except for a single lesson) and was very innovative.. i mean, he used so many effects! he added a lot of emotion to his playing, and showed it on stage. he had a wide range of style, from folk to hard rock. there will simply never be another fellow quite like Jimmy..

Jimi Hendrix

He died far too young and was stylistically evolving at the time of his death. Who knows what he would have gone on to do, if he did anything at all that is. He was very confused at the time of his death, both creatively and personally.
