registry files as well as others can become corrupted or lost, if so, then your system will have the issues you're having...

Obviously something from your error message is telling you just that...the file was deleted somehow (lost)...You definitely need to get your start up disk that came with your computer or the windows Disk, (usually a system restore or recovery disk comes with all computers unless you bought it used. Once you find the recovery disk, your problem should be alleviated if reinstall the registry component your system lost and you should be OK from there... if not, you may have to contact HP/Compaq to let them know you need support to get it going again. Keep in mind that after you get your system's registry entry restored, you will need to BACKUP your system and also Create a startup disk so that in the future you won't run into this issue again and will have the startup files you need at hand...good luck! Hope this helps! Let me know....

Sounds as if you may have to reinstall Windows. However, you should check to see if the machine is getting power from the power adapter. You can tell on most laptops. There is a light that comes on when you are plugged in and getting power. If not, you are just getting a partial charge to the battery. That won't let you get very far before it crashes again. Check the manual to find out what the power indicator light looks like and where it is located.

You need to explain your problem a little bit further. When you turn on the laptop, does it try to run but can't load the operating system or is there no power at all to it? If its power up but it cannot load the operating system then either the operating system is bad or the hard disk is bad. Did you dropped your laptop?

Have you tried just plugging in the power cord without the battery? Also, do the reverse. If it powers on with the cord only then you know the battery is bad.

well that all I can say without further information.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
