It seems to be getting the subject of covert racism out into the open. It shows that this behaviour is totally unacceptable, and will not be tolerated by the vast majority of the general public (of all races.)

So is the programme actually doing some 'good' in a weird way..?

Yes it is. Shows that Class is something you simply can't buy and that those with the biggest mouths and the loudest opinions are not necessarily those who end up on top. Miss Goody is on a head long collision course with a big lesson to be learnt. She knows nothing of Humility, subtlety and consideration to others. I.e. emotional intelligence. Big lesson to many of us.

I don't watch BB but reading in the paper today the comments that were apparently said to Shilpa I don't think they are being racist. I think it just sounds like a bunch of silly immature pathetic girls picking on someone else because they are jealous of her. And as with all bullying the bullies will pick up and make fun of things that they do not understand, or that is different. As a result the comments are being interpretted as racist insults. The paper kept commenting how jackie refused to pronounce Shilpa's name correctly - I watched the episode where the Goody clan entered the house and if I remember correctly it is not that she refused, it was just that she was too stupid to be able to pronounce it. Okay refering to someone as "The Indian", then yes I guess you could regard that as covert racism, but we must remember that happened on another show. If there are comments being made that people believe to be racist fair enough, we all interpret things differently. But in my opinion I think the media is making this a bigger issue then it ought to be!! And it will do nothing to solve racism!!

on CNN USA we saw some controversy about this. Seemed a famous actress has problems with some of the house guest.
One can only hope that these people can leave racism outside the Big Brother house. Should not be anywhere but to display is not needed. The reverse would be a help.

I suppose it will highlight the problem this country has with bullying and also the fact nothing is being done about it. If the BB house was a class room, and BB was the headmaster, why has he not intervened?

if it is dong any good thenI thikn that would be highlighting the issue of bullying which is obviously a huge concern for adults where it is usually connected to adolencents.
However, I do not think that it is doing any justice to the issue of racism.
it is getting people bent all out of shape because of the is it or isn't it racism topic.
The point is, it is bullying and that isn't acceptable.

(Well, thats what I think.)

It failed to prove a point when it first came on. It has become a place for losers and so called celebs who otherwise wouldn't get work at Tesco, stacking shelves.

I don't think they're racist, I think they're just tw*ts! So, no it's not 'educational' just a sad portrayal of the imbeciles we 'the public' allegedly revere as 'celebrity'!
