Tibet was one of the last theocracies (countries ruled by their religious leader). China didn't like that because communists don't like religion. They took over Tibet in the 1950s. They have destroyed almost all of Tibet's monasteries, forced monks to give up their vows, destroyed religious objects to get precious metals and stones, and kidnapped the second most important religious figure in Tibet, the Panchen Lama, who was only a child. They are destroying Tibet's forests and polluting their rivers, which a large percentage of the world's population rely on. Their excuse is that they are saving Tibet from the "foreign devils," but at the time that they invaded, there was only one foreigner in all of Tibet.
