or a sonogram technician. That position is usually not a doctor, if you are looking to be a doctor then you would want to be a obstitrician (OB) and you would also be trained to deliever babies. To find the right college look for medical training jr colleges for the technician position and a good biology program at a university for the doctor position as you will need a BS first.

A technician is different than a doctor. A technician performs the test and does some interpreting, but a doctor handles much more!

However, to perform sonograms, you don't need to be a doctor per se, but rather a nurse can do it, or a ultra sound technician. If you go the technician route, you'll need to attend school (community or technical college) in order to get your training.

well, a technician is not a doctor. Ultrasound technology is used by many medical specialties. But if you want to be the person who actually operates the equipment, that is a technician, not a doctor.
You don't need a college degree for that. You need technical training, probably a one or two year course.

I don't think its called a "major" because in order to become an ultra sound technician, you have to go to a career college which is different from a 4 year undegraduate university that grants you your bachelors degree. Go ahead and look up career colleges near you.

Ultrasound Technician is just a name for training to become one. You would need to go to a medical, technical or community college to get the training and experience needed in order to operate it successfully.

Ultrasound techs aren't doctors. Imaging, including ultrasound, was once largely in the hands of radiologists, but doctors in various fields have learned to use ultrasound in their respective fields, and basically none of them do only ultrasound. I bet if you're interested in the area, you could just ring up the local hospital's x-ray department and talk to an ultrasound tech.
