What are the chances of someone who has undergone a vasectomy fathering a child? Presume it was done years ago and sperm count is zero. I ask because I am intimate with someone of this senario and children are not part of my future plans. Thanks for your replies in advance.

Vasectomy is nearly 100% effective........but there is still a small possibility that it could happen.

Usually chances are rare, but vasectomies do have a failure rate and you might want to look into that. The practice where my husband had his vasectomy offers 1 free sperm check every year.
The stat I can remember on failure rate is that at about the 7th or 8th year after the procedure was done a couple usually ends up with a surprise baby. It's not very common but it has happened often enough to be noteworthy.

if the sperm count is zero, how the hell can someone get pregnant?
Vasectomy's are generally about 97%-99% effective. Especially the longer ago they were done.

Chances are very low, maybe less than 2% BUT if that's a big concern use other protection. Better safe than for life!

from my experience unless the vasectomy is reversed.you will not get pregnant

You can't get pregnant by a guy who's had a vasectomy.

Statistics show that they fail 0.15% of the time. (Not 2% but much lower)
