I am 31 weeks pregnant and i made the less than good choice to fly to Romania.Just for the record it was a great opportunity job wise.I have had a perfectly healthy pregnancy up till this point . I had my doctor write me a note as well so i had no problems flying there and the airline seemed more concered with checking my bags than my pregnancy.Problem is i passed out at work and was taken to a hospital and put on bed rest.I have apparently started dialating and was told i cant leave Romania.I am currently in the city of Iasi in a hotel.I was told if i fly it would be dangerous and i could go into labor?

The stress of moving about can cause you to dilate faster. Airlines will not risk having you aboard at this point. They are not covered to deliver preterm babies, or any babies.

Stay where you are, and wait it out.

Its not worth it for you to risk the health of your baby just because you WANT something, like to give birth in the states. He's going to be born one way or another, so do it the healthiest way possible. Stay put and give him a chance to develop enough to survive outside your body. He deserves that.

I would say contact your provider in the states for their medical advice. If this is your first pregnancy, you could start dilating weeks before you actually go into labor. I began dilating two weeks ago and lost my mucous plug a week and a half ago, but have still not gone into labor. It could still be a week or more away. While it is dangerous to travel this late in the pregnancy, flying will not make you go into labor any quicker than staying put. Walking may cause labor to progress and this could be why you have been put on bed rest, so if you do hop on a plane out of there, keep physical activity while en route to a minimum. Talk to your doctor and maybe he/she will be able to get you a note allowing you to fly home so that your baby can be born in your country. This might not have been helpful at all, but I wish you the best of luck!

I would say stay put. Call your doc at home, but my bet is that he/she will say the same. The pressures exuded on the body during an airplane ride would probably put you into labor. If you're dilating already, you don't want to further your problem. Trust me, you don't want your poor baby born too early. Life in the NICU is not easy for anyone. Sorry you're stuck. Best of luck.

even though you want to give birth in the states you have to realize that it is for your baby's health that you don't get back on that air plain until after you have your baby
