No more is going on than has ever gone on. The difference is, a hundred years ago, if it didn't happen in your community, you didn't hear about it, unless it was world-changing, then you'd hear about it a week after the fact.

Not much new, just that the world is much smaller and news travels much faster. And traditions that were backed up by blind faith are being challenged.
