The hospital should provide the baby with the essentials.

You need personal hygiene items, slippers, a comfy outfit and shoes to leave in. Make sure its a maternity outfit. You may still look like u r pregnant a little. Baby book, camera or camcorder or both.

He will need personal hygiene items.

bring extra pillows if you want. They didn't have enuf for me. And extra blankets just in case.

So easy to way over pack. If you are like me, you really don't need much -- you will need a robe and slippers, socks, loose outfit to wear home. I was very glad to have good face soap to wash my face and chapstick. I would also suggest taking your own pillows (for you and your husband -- most hospitals don't have pillow/blanket for dad). For the baby, you don't really need much more than an outfit (with hat) and a small blanket. My husband took a Suduko book and pencil.

I way overpacked..... You will want a comfy robe for you, along with a nightgown, or a pants jammie set that the top unbuttons on (if breastfeeding) bring extra panties and socks for you, also something for you to wear home. As for the little guy, bring an outfit for the picture, something soft for him, make sure it s warm, and maybe a babygown. They give you diaper there, and a blanket. I brought my own baby blanket, but did not use it until leaving the Hospital. They give you lotion/powder, and most everything you need.

Congrats :)

Tracy pretty much said it all , but take an extra outfit for the baby, I had an outfit for the picture it was huge but still used it put him in a onsie and he peed on it so the hospital gave him a onsie to go home in.. Also take your baby book so you can get his footprints in there.. For your husband a magazine for the long wait and change for the vending machine.. Don't forget the camera

Your bag: Your insurance card and any hospital paperwork you need.

• Your eyeglasses, if you need any. Even if you usually wear contacts, you'll probably need or want to take them out at some point during your stay.

• A hair band and barrettes, if you think you might want them.

• Lip moisturizer.

• A bathrobe, nightgown, slippers, and a couple of pairs of socks. Hospitals provide gowns for you to use during labor and afterward, but most will allow you to wear your own clothes if you prefer. Choose something loose and comfortable that you don't mind getting ruined. You'll need to wear a gown instead of pants so that your practitioner can check your cervix. Choose a top with short, loose sleeves so you your blood pressure can be checked easily and so you can slip your top off easily if you want to change and have an IV in place. You might also want to bring your own slippers and robe for walking around during the early stages of labor. If you don't want to risk soiling your robe, you can ask for a second hospital gown to wear as a robe to cover your backside.

• Something to read, if you're so inclined.

• Massage oils or lotions, music, an extra pillow, whatever you need to help you relax. (If you do bring your own pillow, be sure to use a patterned or colorful pillowcase so it doesn't get mixed up with the hospital's.) You might consider bringing tennis balls or a rolling pin in case you have back labor and need them for massage.

• Talismans, a picture of someone or something you love, anything you find reassuring.
A fresh nightgown.

• Snacks! After many hours of labor, you're likely to be pretty hungry and you don't want to have to rely on the hospital's food. So bring your own crackers, raisins, and granola bars.

• A nursing bra, breast pads, and maternity underwear, if you'd prefer not to wear the net panties they'll give you at the hospital. Chances are, whatever underwear you do wear the first few days will get stained, even with sanitary pads (which the hospital provides).

• Toiletries. Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, lip balm, deodorant, and makeup, if it's important to you. Hospitals will have soap, shampoo, and lotion, but you might prefer your own brands.

• Your address book and prepaid phone card or cell phone. After the baby's born you'll want to call family and friends to let them know the good news.

• A going-home outfit. Bring something roomy and easy to get into — believe it or not, you'll probably still look 5 or 6 months pregnant — along with a pair of flat shoes. The last thing you'll be worrying about when you go home is whether your outfit is fashionable.

Hubby's: Money for parking and change for vending machines.

• A few basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant.

• A change of clothes

• Some snacks and something to read during the early stages.

• A camera/video camera and film or tape or a memory card and batteries. Someone has to document the big event! (NOTE: Not all hospitals allow videotaping of the birth itself, but there's usually no rule against taping during labor or after the birth.)

• A bathing suit. If your partner wants to take a bath or shower during labor, you may want to jump in with her.

Baby's:
An infant car seat. You can't drive your baby home without one!

• A going-home outfit (one-piece stretchy outfits are easiest) and a snowsuit if it's very cold

• A receiving blanket (a heavy one if the weather's cold)

• A pair of socks or booties

• A cap (although they'll usually give you one at the hospital)

• Baby nail clippers or emery board.

DON'T FORGET THE CAMERAS!

ok well your husband should have a bunch of change on him for soda and snacks for himself. also a camera. change of clothes and a toothbrush. he can go home to shower. as for you. bring some extra undies. like more then you think you will ever need there. nipple cream if you plan to breastfeed. slippers. and a nice robe. a nice comfy something to go home in. your hair brush tooth brush shampoo and soap. your own maxi pads the kind that you like. and also a camera in case something happens to your husbands. for your baby you should bring scratch mitts. and some thing cute and warm for him to go home in. oh and sensitve wipes if you have sensitive skin your baby might too. oh and a phone card because you can not call long distance on hospital phones and a good book one that you can't put down. good luck.

For yourself and your husband it's pretty self explainatory but one thing I wanted to comment on is bring your own baby bottles! Even if your planning to breastfeed. I planned to breastfeed but ended up having a c-section and on top of that getting knocked out for it. So I couldn't breastfeed my son until the next day which ended up not working. Not saying that any of this is going to happen to you but just be prepared if breastfeeding doesn't work or you can't breastfeed right away because I hated the bottles supplied by the hospital, the nipples were too fast therefore he didn't have to work for it and by the time he got me he didn't want it....

For you I would pack, about 3 pair of clothes (night clothes) something loose fitting, some comfortable underwear, socks, and personal hygiene.

The same for your husband. The baby just some onesies and something nice and warm for the pictures and the car seat.

A comfy nightgown for you(1 for everyday you are there), clothes for baby(hats, socks, onsies, blankets), toiletries, diapers(if you don't want to use the hospitals), wipes(sensitive), your favorite magazine or book just in case there is nothing on TV, socks, clothes to go home in, phone numbers for announcing his birth, camera, camcorder, mittens for baby(so he doesn't scratch his face), a nice outfit for baby to take pictures in, ummmmm....I think that is all.
